Dina Moatazedi
Hi Friends
In case you are curious about my story, here it is. I grew up in Southern California and went to the University of Southern California. Met my husband in high school and married him two years after we graduated college. We have three kids and LOVE to travel. I started my career in 2000 working for Max Azria as a celebrity stylist for BCBG and then Herve Leger Couture and for the Max Azria line. I styled celebrities including Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Boys II Men, New kids on the Block and so many more.
I left to open a boutique and then 9/11 happened and the economy collapsed. I chickened out. I went to work for St John Knit. They hired me to do costing…meaning I counted how many paillettes were on each garment and multiplied them by the cost to figure out what the garment would be sold for. I am a creative person and number crunching has never been my jam. The costing department is where creative people go to die. It was a slow death. I got a job as an office manager managing a surgery center for a gastroenterologist. I remember sitting in the staff cafeteria talking to my coworkers about how they were elbow deep in SHIT… quite literally. I questioned why I had traded in my stilettos for booties and my Marc Jacobs for scrubs and instead of NY Fashion Week I was working community health fairs. Instead of movie premiers and Hollywood Award shows I was negotiating insurance contracts. My deep LOVE for fashion never wavered but I took time off to spend with family, knowing someday I would find my way back.
It seemed each week, friends would ask me if I would style them. In the back of my mind, I longed to be styling again. I would spend hours daily searching all websites and reading digital fashion subscriptions. One day a friend asked and I said yes! That was October 2023 and the rest is history, as they say. My favorite part of my job is pulling the entire look together. It’s not what you wear, but how you wear it. Are the sleeves rolled the right way? Is it tucked in too much or too little? Accessories make (or break) the fit. Have you ever tried on a dress barefoot and found it to looks frumpy but then you put a killer boot with it and all of a sudden it’s the greatest dress? When I see my clients looking and therefore feeling their best, I am reminded that this is why I love styling. I feel grateful to have amazing clients who make work feel like play. I love what I do and I am excited to curate your next look.
